So I wanted to try something new, something I have not done before. I was always curious how these artists on Youtube or wherever are creating all those amazing renderings. I knew about the existence of Maya and Blender so I quickly googled what "The Internet ©️" thinks about them or if there's some other tool I never hear of and voilà, Blender it is.
Quickly downloaded from the Blender homepage, installed and let's get to work.
Well, at least that's what I thought would happen 😅
If you've ever opened up Blender you'll know what I mean. And the title of the section perfectly captures that moment. If you've never dealt with computer graphics/rendering software know this - you're in way over your head. You need help. You won't even know where to start with all the buttons, menus, screens, panels inside panels, etc. But don't be disheartened, that's basically the experience EVERYBODY has here 😀
YouTube is a great place to watch videos and learn about this stuff...or any stuff really. I immediately stumbled upon the channel of the Blender Guru, which is sort of a rite of passage thing. You can't make 2 steps in the rendering/Blender world without finding some reference to him and his legendary Donut tutorials. He's been making them since way back and is currently on version 3.0. I can highly recommend this channel, it not only helped me bring a bit of light into Blender darkness but also does it lighthearted and fun.
I'm currently half way through the thing and cannot wait to see what's up next. Really looking forward to some more tutorials and get really crazy.
So there's actually two points for doing this. First I wanted to create some sweet renders that I can show off, obviously. But another thing I want to do is use those renderings and include them here, on my blog, using React Fiber. I'm not sure how this will work out but we'll cross that bridge once I get there 🌈.
